Alta Sierra Wine Shop Reviews
My husband and I had a lovely experience at Alta Sierra Wine Shop, which hosted a fund raiser we attended. First, Dave Luce is a knowledgeable, congenial host who could tell us everything about the wines we tasted, but do it in a non-wine snob way. Second, the shop is impressive both in the number of wines it carries and in the overall ambiance. We love that Dave is so community minded, hosting fund raisers for other non-profits. If you go for a tasting, it’s just $6 for 6 wines that includes a cheese plate! And the wines, from all over the world, not only California, are reasonably prices. If you love wine, as we do, Alta Sierra Wine Shop is the place to go!

Very pleasant dinner and wine tasting experience. The owner is very knowledgeable and the environment is friendly and professional. I recommend this for a unique special occasion. Great for a group too. The wine is reasonably priced compared to just about anywhere we have gone wine tasting and the small dinner adds a great touch.

This is one of those friendly neighborhood wine bars you think would only be in the movies – but it’s in our own backyard! Owner Dave Luce is charming, fun, incredibly knowledgeable, and has superb wines. We drive from Penn Valley to Alta Sierra just to hang out and to see what’s new in Dave’s shop – totally recommended!!

This is a recently opened wine shop which is virtually down the street from our house. We walked in once and the people who ran it were extremely friendly, they have tasting for many of the wines they sell. They unfortunately don’t have a good local selection, but they try to seek out the best wines they can find and sell them at reasonable prices, we found wines in that store which we were shocked to like (such as Merlots). I recommend anyone in the area check this place out.

This little gem is a breath of fresh air for those looking for affordable wines of high quality. Lots of Paso Robles and Lodi wines that you will never see anywhere else in the foothills. And if your looking for imports and want something other than California wines, this is the place. Think smaller version of Kermit Lynch. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Atmosphere very relaxing. Next time you are traveling along Hwy 49, you must turn into Alta Sierra and visit this wine shop!

Have passed this wine shop several times and finally decided to stop in. What a pleasant surprise. The decor was fun with actual seating at the wine bar. Found many tasting rooms without seating. I am not a taste and dash wino. Love to savor the experience. The wines were from various areas and not readily found at stores. The owner very knowledgeable and prices reasonable. Will definitely return again.

We were pleasantly surprised at this little wine tasting shop. Tasted wine and chatted with new people and bought two bottles of wine. Will be back. Glad they are here!

I like this place quite a bit. The selection is refined, all quality. Dave will offer a recommendation for a particular need and he’s an excellent host with a ton of knowledge about the local area. This place is quiet little weekend gem in Alta Sierra.
